Govan is situated 4 kilometres west of Glasgow city centre on the south bank of the River Clyde.
Many areas of Govan lack good green infrastructure and the benefits it would bring to people and wildlife. It is the ambition of the CCF project is to increase the urban across the whole of Glasgow City Region to 20%.
CCF will be planting trees across both districts in the 2024/2025 planting season.
Govan was selected because of the low canopy cover.
The combination of low canopy cover and data on deprivation from the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation indicates that these areas would be most at risk from climate events that can be mitigated by increased canopy cover.
