 East Dunbartonshire's pledge

East Dunbartonshire's pledge

East Dunbartonshire Council signed a concordat agreement with the Clyde Climate Forest committing to help plant 18 million trees by 2031.

The first tree plantings will take place across 2023/24 in areas of low canopy cover such as Bishopbriggs.

Local schools and community groups will work with staff from environmental charity Trees for Cities, who are a Clyde Climate Forest delivery partner, to help a number of trees to enhance existing and create new woodland across East Dunbartonshire.

 Tree Planting

Tree Planting

East Dunbartonshire Council aims to connect up existing woodlands, plant new forests and target urban tree plantings in areas vulnerable to climate impacts.

These trees will have a positive impact on the urban environment by providing a cooling effect in heatwaves, surface water management during heavy rainfall, carbon storage and wildlife habitat.

Trees will be planted in areas most at risk from climate events that can be mitigated by increased canopy cover.
