Event shines light on Tree Wardens

Earlier this month, the Clyde Climate Forest (CCF), hosted a Tree Warden event at Elder Park Library in Govan. The event brought together people from a wide range of backgrounds to share knowledge and expertise on all things trees and woodlands.

It was a great opportunity for our CCF Community Volunteer Coordinator to shine a spotlight on the brilliant work being delivered by CCF Tree Wardens across the Glasgow City Region.

It was even more fitting to celebrate this work in Govan, one of our target urban neighbourhoods, where CCF is actively working to increase tree canopy cover to 20%, for the benefit of both people and wildlife.

Some of CCF’s own Tree Wardens who attended were kind enough to share their own knowledge and enthusiasm. A special shout-out goes to Fiona, who helped deliver a fascinating and engaging talk exploring some of the more exotic tree species from around the world that have found their way to Elder Park.

Events like this are a great reminder of the knowledge, passion and commitment within the environmental sector and the important role volunteers can play in caring for and championing our trees and woodlands.

We are facing the twin challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss, but coming together to celebrate successes, share knowledge and exchange stories helps renew our drive and determination to create a better environment for future generations.
