30 New Tree Wardens for Clyde Climate Forest

A whopping 30 volunteers have now signed up to our volunteer Tree Warden scheme aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to help our region’s trees and woodlands thrive.

The group attended Winter Tree ID workshops at Rouken Glen and Strathclyde Country Parks, learning to recognise tree species based on bark, buds, and branching pattern. Tree Wardens also attended a Seed Gathering workshop in Pollok Country Park and helped to plant 700 trees at Huntly Park in East Renfrewshire.

Volunteers will continue their efforts with upcoming tree planting sessions in local neighbourhoods that are vulnerable to climate change such as North Motherwell, Bellshill, and Burnbank.

Laura Salvage, Community Volunteer Coordinator for the Clyde Climate Forest, said “It’s fantastic to have so many enthusiastic volunteers join the initiative, they will make a real impact protecting their local environment.”

“For anyone interested in looking after our new trees and woodlands, I’d encourage them to reach out.  It’s a great chance to connect with nature, meet new people, and learn new skills - all while spending time outdoors.”
